SATIN FINISH – Available for Ashfield Schist & Crowsfoot Schist

Our satin finish is a lovely, luminous, matte surface. It is smooth but not reflective and achieved by finishing with diamond bricks up to 400 grit. We recommend this surface for most flooring applications. It is also fine for hearths, fireplace surrounds, counter tops, vanity tops, benches, wainscoting and more.

POLISHED FINISH – Available for Ashfield Schist & Crowsfoot Schist

Our polished finish is an understated, reflective surface achieved by finishing with diamond pads up to 3000 grit. Applications include counter tops, vanities, tables, wainscoting, custom hewn sinks and more.

FLOORING

We offer a unique planking that mimics wood floors. This format can be used on walls as well. All of our flooring is custom cut and we are not limited to standard sizes or shapes.

FIREPLACE SURROUND / HEARTH

SCORED PITCHED – Available in Ashfield Schist Only

We offer a scored pitched finish made by taking sawn slabs, scoring them at regular intervals and then chipping away the sawn surface to reveal the natural cleft interior of the slab. This is a beautiful look for wall panels, behind wood stoves, interior water features and more applications that we haven’t thought of yet.

NATURAL CLEFT – Available in Ashfield Schist Only

Revealed by splitting the stone with a hammer and chisel along the natural bedding planes. The natural surface texture of the Ashfield Schist is a  corduroy weave-reminiscent of wind on water. This is a pleasing, naturally slip resistant texture to walk on and makes great walkways and patios. Look at the Landscape section for other cleft applications. It is also available for indoor use in limited applications such as hearths or single specimen shower walls. Call for details.

THICKNESSES offered are 1-1/4″ (typical counter thickness), ¾” (for hearths, back splashes, fireplace surrounds, etc.) and ½” (flooring, wall cladding and fireplace surrounds).Custom thicknesses are available.
